The Church

One day a friend came to me and said she was feeling depressed and would I go with her to the church to put a candle for her dead relatives. I said sure. We went out and on foot we got to the church. The whether was calm, beautiful and the sun was shining. One perfect day. We reached the church. It was a nice small church with well-kept garden in front of it. We bought candles and fired them and stayed at the icons praying and speaking with God. (We are orthodox Christians.) The smell of the incense and wax was everywhere and the silence was comfortable. I felt really calmed and peaceful, loving all people even the not so good persons from my life. My friend started a talk with the woman who was selling the candles and was a kind of sexton of the church. My friend said to her that from some time she didn’t feel calm and felt depressed, thinking of her dead relatives and that she often dreamed them at night. The sexton said that Satan was very happy when he destroyed our soul, when we were stressed and feared and that when she felt that she must pray to some saints. (I won’t mention their names, because it is not the theme of my piece.) Then the sexton told us that the other woman who was sexton at that church, they changed on duties – one day the one and the other - the other. So, other sexton heard from an astrologer and said her that when the moon is full and started wane then these days were bad. She said that from that moment she started to feel bad when the moon was waning and she was praying every night before sleeping. (Here, I had to mention that the old people have more fears than us. Because of ignorance and the age, they suffer and feel bad a lot more.) She said that she feared and that that shake her mind and soul and that she prayed when she felt it and advised my friend to do so. I as a beginner astrologer, wanting to calm her down and to say her my philosophy of Satan (it is exposed here in the blog) and to make her better said to her that Satan didn’t exist and that I didn’t believe in it. But she maybe because I was younger and she didn’t bear someone younger to contradict her or because she so strongly believed in that thing said:

- No….no, he exists, he exists! – said she with very severe and strict voice.

I decided to stop talking and then we gave our gratitude to her and left.

FAIR WIND!

PS.
Back at home I started wandering: “Who did she believe in? In God or in Satan? “
PPS.
This is a good story for the positive and negative thinking.
